Update (01 April 2004) Just wanted to give everyone a quick up date on the NSPS.
Despite the lobbying which we have done and the intense lobbying of the other unions involved we are still not seeing much movement out of DoD. In essence, it appears that the lobbying effort of the unions is garnering support from democratic legislators in the House and Senate, but very little republican support, which is essential since all committees with jurisdiction over such issues are chaired by Republicans.
Nonetheless, it is essential that all of our locals continue to communicate with their respective legislators on this issue, we must be relentless.
We will be back on the Hill next week to meet with several Republican Senators that have some jurisdiction over the issue. As more information develops it will be provided.
