A Lanier County (Georgia) Firefighting family was deeply affected February 23 bt a wreck involving fire apparatus that killed a Firefighter and injured his brother, both in the Line of Duty.
Firefighter Dereck North, riding in the officer seat of the Stockton FD apparatus, died in the Line of Duty when the truck overturned at the intersection of U.S. 84 and U.S. 129. FF Dereck North's brother, Chad, who was driving the apparatus, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Companies from 2 fire stations were dispatched at 1559 hours after an unknown caller reported an "out of control" fire at a farm.
