Firefighter Brian Dunlap was assigned to Camp Pendleton Fire Station 8 B and had been on the floor just under one year. Firefighter Dunlap was called to active duty with the Marine Corps and sent to Iraq as part of a special team training Iraqi personnel.

Brother Dunlap was killed by a secondary device as he rushed to aid others stricken by the initial blast. He was laid to rest in Sacramento, CA. on 07 October 2005.
